Paintings

Above is a abstract painting that I did similar in style to Mark Rothko. This was fun but I have moved on to fluid acrylic paintings.

Honey Bear

'Stealing the honey'

I carved this bear out of a 6' trunk for my neighbor. The wood was pretty old so I had to be careful in spots. The honey jar added a touch of humor. On the back side is a bee hive I might make a series of bees swarming the bear out of steel rod.

Skyward sold today

Skyward

It's always a mixture of emotions when a sculpture is sold. I am happy to see that individuals are able to see and appreciate the vision I held when creating the work of art. I guess I become attached to each one of the figures that I create and will miss them but I am glad to see that they will go to a home that can enjoy them!

New Abstract Wood Sculpture

Abstract Wood Form

So... I can't stay still for too long. I am about halfway in on this new abstract wood form that I have been working on lately. I will post a fuller view once I get to a certain point in the development process. I was sad to see a number of old trees cut down from my front yard for the road expansion but it has provided me with substantially large sections of wood to carve! Have to look at the silver lining I guess.

Sculptures on display

Sculptures on Display at the flying Pig

The above image has 4 of the 5 sculptures that I now have on display for sale at the Flying Pig in Algoma, WI. The Flying Pig is a gallery and green space that is interesting and unique, I would recommend a trip out to see the gallery and the various works of art it has to offer.

Faire on the Green

A Hot Sunday for art!

Welcome to the summertime heat and humidity in Wisconsin. The Faire on the Green was a fun event with a lot of interesting vendors in attendance. There were some pretty creative works of fine art from a few of the vendors. From what I could determine, the fair had a number of vendors that had crafts more than fine art which attracts a different type of crowd. My wife and I enjoyed the day and the people that we met and talked to throughout the day.

A new lady

A New Lady

This is my newest addition to my family of female sculptures that I have been working on this summer. I am working on mixing the faces with abstract shapes that start in the hair. The facial proportions on this sculpture worked out well and the red tones in the hair really give contrast to the face. The height is a little shorter than the others but the proportions seemed to work out pretty good.
